recent poem

Three Jellyfish

Three jellyfish hung above her, their
tentacles hanging
down her lank hair, their
gelatinous bodies moving
swaying in the breeze. Behind them the
sky was blue and forever deep.
There was a single cloud, a puff,
high off to the right of her
particular sky.
This, too, was slowly moving,
in this case, steadily
to the right,
or west. The hovering, floating disks
slowly gave way to gravity
wafted down
settling beside her.
She lay there drowsing.
thoughts wandered this way and
that. Her leg itched. An ant restlessly
picked his way across her thigh.
She slept.
